yeah...i happen to own 3 SUVs a Cadillac Escalde EXT (which u plan to crash) a 2 door Chevy Tahoe, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee....and u SUV hater make me sick to my stomach....i would get cars but they can't fit 24" rims....plus the space for upgrading speaker systems is limited in cars....and plus the bigger the better! and yes i would appreciate if u would be so kind as to take me off ure mailing list.

understood. there's certainly less room in a sedan for speakers. any thoughts on safety, oil dependence, or global warming?

as far as saftey is concerned....the way i see it if i hit u in my EXT (which has a chrome grill guard) and you are in a maxda miata 2-seater...who's walkin away? ME! the only thing i have to worry about is a semi or an 18 wheeler. AND GLOBAL WARMING...if u blam that on SUVs for that you might as well blame the detirioration of the ozone layer soley on farting COWS!!! Thats just Re-GOD DAMN-diculouse! and Oil dependance...i could car less about that...im a 19 year old CEO...i have money and my whole life ahead of me....to me cars are an extention of a persons personality...your cars says alot about you...i just like big truck...big SUVs...i have a 1998 ferrari F355...so i like cars too...but I prefer SUVs over anything anyday! NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT KEEP ME ON YOUR LIST! 8 - )

I see that white Pathfinder all around my neighborhood, and I have a solution for you. If you are so upset about your vehicle's fossil fuel consumption just sell it. Or give it away. Your problem would be solved so easily instead of driving around town whining about what a gas pig it is. But, you must be one of those whiners that need the sympathy to continue your miserable exsistence. Oh, well.

actually its slated to be destroyed within a month, most likely we're going to blow it up. i could sell it and probably get 4 or 5k, but that would just put it back on the road for another gas guzzling 100k miles. i don't bring it up to pv anymore cause its an eyesore - not really meant for a residential area. pretty soon it will be entirely gone so you won't have to put up with seeing it.

Are you serious?! You're going to destroy it. Hell, I will give you something for it. I used to have a Pathfinder just like yours, except it was black. Don't destroy it. There's a lot of people who would appreciate that vehicle. I see many people who take the bus to clean homes in Pv because they don't have their own transporation. Or, give it to a church.

it's actually a pretty inexpensive way to make a point i believe in. just announcing that we we're going to blow it up created well over half a million hits on the website. getting that kind of exposure can cost tens of thousands of dollars so it's actually a pretty clever use of a resource. also, it's really not a safe vehicle. there's a label on the driver's side visor that warns about rollovers and increased risk of crashing. its amazing that people haul their kids around in vehicles with such a sticker. just a tire blowing out could be fatal, and tires do blow out. if it was a car, i wouldn't hesitate to donate it or give it away.

Okay here are my views on SUV's. I drive one, but it is not a gas guzler it uses diesel. I get better mileage than most of the other sedans in the family (which incluse 2 ford focus's, one 2002 SVT and one 2000 ZX3, and my daughters 2002 Volkswgean Jetta). My SUV is a 2001 Ford Excursion. I had it specialy made so it is two wheel drive. It is considered a large SUV but to me it is a truck. I use it to haul engines to Long Island, and my 7 person family out to dinner once a month. I also have 3 animals, one pitbull, one mutt about the size of the pitbull, and a kitten. When we go on vacation all 7 people, and 3 animals have to go with us. Some people will say get a minivan, but we used to have one and as our children have grown (they range in ages from 13-20) they need more leg room and not to be in as close vicinity to eachother as they were in the van. And this Excursion is the only SUV made to accomodate all of this. And no I am not one of those crazy mothers on a power trip when I drive. I am very curtious I singal when I turn, Let people cross the crosswalk by stopping, stop at all stop signs, and obey the speed limit. I have been in one asccident in the 50,000 miles that I have driven that car. It was the other drivers fault, he changed lanes into my passenger side. He claimed he didn't see me there, he was driving a Subaru WRX. I am not denying that some of these cars guzzle gas but its those people paying for it and we live in America so they have a right to. But I still feel that if they want to drive a car like that they better have a good reason and not just oh, I look cool in it. I wouldn't change in my Excursion for the world.

wow! a letter from a driver of the notorious excursion. thanks! i'll post it just as you wrote it. sometimes i see an excursion towing along a yacht or some huge trailer and it makes sense. utility vehicles have been around since the first autos and will be around for a long time to come. the problem is that suvs have become the latest fashion trend and people are lining up like ramp models on parade. what the rest of us see are traffic jams filled with top heavy vehicles that kick up lots of smog. i completely agree that some people use suvs how they were meant to be used, however most don't. thanks a lot for taking time to email your thoughts!
