I currently drive an Acura Integra (approx. 25-30 mpg) and
live in a town with too many large vehicles. I'm waiting for the
hybrids and fuel cells and other fuel technologies to become
common. I've enjoyed your site and the message it has to say. For
the most part, I completely agree with the problem in over-sized
vehicles guzzling gas and endangering other motorists. A lot of drivers claim they need the extra space
for kids. Funny. I also see families doing just fine in smaller
cars, such as Volvos, Ford Escorts, and Potiacs. Large
families need large vehicles and I know there aren't THAT many
large families out there.
I'm especially conscious of this now that we face war with a
country that controls most of the oil we use. I think if we
became self sufficient without the dependance of so much oil, we
would not have the issue of dealing with Iraq. I know we aren't
going to war over oil, as some claim, but being less dependant is
an improvement we can all gain from.
As sick as it sounds, I'm almost glad gas prices are going up.
This encourages me to drive less -I telecommute when possible and
only drive 5 miles to work. I hope social pressures and the extra
cost of driving gas guzzlers will help turn others toward
smaller, efficient vehicles that don't emit much pollution and
use fewer fossil fuels. (Air quality is another issue all its
own.)
Thanks for making a cool website and sharing your opinion. :)

hey Sarah:
thanks for the comments - good stuff. i'm paying more at the pump
like anyone else but for me the difference is around $7 per fill
up. have to admit it's kind of fun watching the guzzlers fill up.
we still have super cheap gas compared to the rest of the
developed world. if there were even more of a spike in fuel
prices i'd bet a lot of folks would reconsider the trendy truck!
:-) want a sticker??

Thanks for the reply Joe!
I'm not a sticker type of gal. But if you
have a clingy sticker for the window, I would use that.
Thanks and have a good hump Wednesday!
