Dear Pig:
3 quick things -
1) Met Officer Emami recently - he's a good egg. Actually, he did
a video for me several years ago, but I wasn't aware until
recently that he's also one of Redondo's finest.
2) Oil - I don't know how far into the oil issue your interests
extend, however, there's a pretty short, quite readable 5-part
series on the issue of oil and its relation to the Iraq debate on
MSNBC.com. I try to stay relatively informed, and this had some
surprises for me. (Parts 1 and 5 are the best.) For instance, did you know that Chevron has an
oil tanker named after Condoleeza Rice?
3) If you're REALLY interested in oil, its history and its
effects on world economies, read The Prize by Daniel Yergin. It's
a big book - I fell asleep one night and it cracked a rib - but
it is the bible of oil policy wonks.
Take care,
Jonathan
Hi Jonathan
good to hear from you again. he told me he visited with you and
that the three of us should hook up for lunch one of these
days... i'm all for it! oil tanker Condoleeza - go figure!
Fortunately smart guys like you write to me cause at best i'm a
layman when it comes to oil and environmental issues. that may be
a good thing cause 99% of the people logging on to gaspig.com
know less about it than i do. honestly i love reading these
things and when i get a moment away from the day job and juggling
kids i try to catch up on reading. if i go to msmbc.com will
there be a link to the series you wrote about? thanks again for
the good info - i truly appreciate it!
all the best!
