Dear Gaspig:

My best friend and I saw your article in FHM and we LOVED the idea of dropping an SUV out of an airplane. My best friend Mike has a dark blue 87' GMC Jimmy S15. He has purchased a new car which is the same model, but we both want to wreck the other one. We went to Gaspig.com and found that this kickass process is at not such a kickass price. We do not have the 17,000 dollars. However, we were thinking of raising the money (which is still up in the air) or something of the sort because this is something we'd really like to do. Please get back to us as soon as you can!!! Thank you!

-Jeff & Michael

PS- attached are a picture of Mike (the ownder of the car) and the front of his car. I'll attach more pictures in the next e-mail after you give us some feedback. Thanks again!

hey guys

sorry for the delay getting back to you! day job. i'd love to wreck your truck! $17,000 is a general figure and most likely we can save on some of the costs. the biggest expense is the plane needed - then the cost of the location. if i were rich, i'd have dumped a dozen suvs by now - but i'm not so most of my cars have been civics. anyway, i posted $17k primarily to let people know it isn't cheap. i'd expect it to cost between 10 and 12k. i'm not interested in making money on the drop, for me it's about getting the footage and photos that help publicize the website. but its cool to hear you're psyched on wrecking the ride! the idea is to get really cool footage of its destruction for shows like real tv, inside edition and so on. tossing it from a plane is certainly a fun option,
but there are other less expensive and cool things we can do... dynamite, driving it from a cliff, volunteering it for target practice at a military facility, parking it inside a building that is slated for demolition, you name it we'll film it! how about setting it up with remote control and test driving it in the mohave desert - to see how it turns, rolls, and how it handles really really tough terrain. let me know what you think, or if you've got other ideas. thanks again for the really cool letter!

Dear Gas Pig,

No problem for the delay, we've got all the time in the world. We understand about the expense of the plane, so we've got some other possibilities to toss up in the air. Driving it off a cliff is ingenious and the remote control is unbelievably exciting also. We are not aware of how expensive the remotes are, but perhaps remote-controlling an SUV off a cliff while blowing it up. Not necessarily in that order or all of them simaltaneously, but just a thought. Or how about driving it off of some kind of "spiral" ramp while on fire? I know there is a limited budget in this kind of work, but these are just ideas. There is one dilemna with our SUV; recently, Mike's SUV's transmission died, so we're starting a fund to buy a new one in order to drive to your location. We may seem insane or jumping ahead of the game, but this would be legendary if we pulled this off. We're discussing plans of driving out to Arizona this summer.. This is not 100% concrete, but there is an extremely good chance of it. Get back to us whenever you can and thanks for the feedback!

hey guys
i'm running out the door - but just read your awesome letter. i love your idea of turning the destruction of the truck into a voyage... you'd have to tape the journey. i'm not sure what a remote control costs but i think it would be so great. drive the truck over all kinds of terrain with crash test dummies on board and cameras, then as a grand finally, steer that baby off something really high. then we'd plant it in the desert - now that's entertainment!
all the best
joe

Dear GasPig,

I'm writing to you from my Info Technology course at Monmouth University. Mike and I have already started the fund for the new transmission. Hopefully, we will have enough money by April to install a new tranny. Just wanted to keep you updated on our situation. We'll talk to you soon and most likely see you this summer!

by the way, i used to live in Rumson, NJ and then Atlantic Highlands NJ - small world. if i haven't already sent one, email me your mailing address and i'll send you a dvd - it has some fun car crashing stuff on it. all the best!

Dear Gaspig,

Thanks SO much for the kickass DVD! This is only getting us more psyched about coming down. We are still saving money for the transmission, but we are hoping to visit you during our spring break (Monday, March 10, 2003 - Sunday, March 16, 2003). We just wanted to give you a possible time-frame of our estimated visit. If this week doesn't pan out, we'll be visiting in the summer. In return for your generosity and your enthusiasm, we will send you a copy of OUR DVD. It consists of random ass-hole college humor. Most of the stuff is actually pretty funny, but we ARE ameteurs. We are finishing up the last 120 minutes and then the editing process will take place. Mike and I will mail you a copy whenever it is finished (estimated around February this year). Hope to talk to you soon and hope your enjoying your WARM weather. Haha.

-Michael & Jeff

PS- We're freezing our nuts off here in Jersey.

hey guys
sorry bout the cold NJ weather - been there done that. but at least that gives you some time in front of the tube to check out the dvd. glad you like it - i thought it might help to keep you motivated. i'm planning to go to mexico in march to do some filming with greg gasson (the guy who hangs on to his rig) - not sure of the dates but i'll check into it and keep you posted. ass-hole college humor is awesome - bring it on! when you get it done i'd love a copy.
