Its interesting to hear peoples opinion about suv's or the modern station wagon. I admit there are some people that dont need them. And when ford came out with the subdivision for the bragging right of having the biggest suv that gets 6 miles to the gallon. I own a suv myself and usually drive by myself. But I also pack up a 25foot enclosed trailer and a race car on the weekends with usally 4 people and head out of town. I have owned it for about 1 year and 7000 miles of the 15000 that I put on it were in the dirt. I feel that this is being used the way that they were ment to be used. The BMW 740IL get better mileage but cant tow as much as a full-size. I wish the manufacturers would build a hybrid full-size suv that would fit my needs. Great mileage around town and the ability to tow when you need it. Interested Gas Pig Owner =)

sorry for the delay in responding. when work calls i have to practically abandon gaspig.com which is kind of a bummer, but one must pay the bills. the way i see it, the kind of backlash SUVs are getting comes because of exactly what you said. people are replacing the family car with the family truck. so there are all these powerhouse mobiles rolling around on the commute, for shopping, or taking the kids around. people spend piles of money just to make an impression, an illusion with a hefty price tag.
thanks for the letter!
