Dearest Gaspig

This site is so awesome and right on! Boy soccer moms with that extra testosterone will be so upset though. Good! When I was growing up our Suv was a green station wagon with wooden panels and we were happy. Im 22 years old and I'm content walking or taking the bus to my destinations and I believe I can appreciate the environment more than those who are going over 55 mph in monstrous things which never go off road. Like I've always said, "Bigger the ride, smaller the penis". The only monstrous things on 4 wheels we need are those of emergency and military. Im proud to say my Suv is equipped with lights and sirens and races to pick up those who are really in need, not to run over kids in a crosswalk like a middle aged woman with a midlife crisis talking on her cell phone. And guess what kind of automobile is most common in the accidents I see. You've got it friends, SUVs! Once again, thanks for this site and PSA cause it's so damn true. I'll be sure to tell my friends about this site.

Sincerely,
Mike

hey Mike

thanks so much for the perspective! suvs are in vogue. ten years ago people said, "hey, i'm outdoorsy". today, we all know that isn't true. so with help from profit driven companies and the oil lobby, now the chant is "hey, big SUVs are Safer". lies to justify fashion. people are silly - willing to dump loads of money into impressing other people. and so we have an endless parade of wannabes. then they get all upset when things like gaspig.com pop up. perhaps they think we should all like SUVs.

its interesting what you see in accidents. i get so caught up with issues like the environment and oil dependence, but i'd bet there are horror stories from accidents. i remember seeing a special on PBS that dealt with SUVs where they showed an expedition ramming through the windows of a sedan - if the dummies were real people they'd have been severely crippled or killed. driving a truck is a responsibility, you are taking the lives of other drivers into your hands when you drive one. but you see people racing them around like cars. i wrote about a scenario from the perspective of a woman who hits a civic with her navigator. its posted at
http://www.gaspig.com/frontline.htm probably you've seen scenarios like this one.

thanks again for your letter, Mike. would you like me to send you a couple stickers??

all the best
