I read some of the letters that you posted and I'm always amused by how angry some people get when you start talking about conservation and I would like to shine a little ethical light on the subject.

No one has the right to squander a non-renewable natural resource and put extra emissions in the air that all of us breathe.

No one has the right to protect themselves and their family while at the same time putting other people at higher risk.

Fuel efficiency is a win for everyone. We use less energy, pollute less, and if more people drove lighter cars, the highways would be safer. We can also keep our money here in america and quit funneling money to middle east fanatics that take the money and organize terrorism.

If we really want to send a clear message to the middle east we could do it by saying "You can go ahead and keep your oil, we won't be needing it any longer."
