So here's the question, and I admit that it IS a crazy one.
(Since you don't know me, you may be inclined to dismiss it out
of hand.)
Have you ever considered employing your digital photography
skills in the pursuit of getting your message out about SUVs? I
ask this question, because I have an idea for a project. Without giving you "the treatment,"
imagine this:
PSA (Public Service Announcement) meets consumer product
commercial, except, of course, that it is all deadpan satire. One
minute long (two minutes, tops) the purpose would be so-called
"viral" marketing. IF it is funny enough, posted on the
web enough, and enough people email it around it might get some
attention. (Much like the digital shorts at www.ifilm.com.) <http://www.ifilm.com.)>
I have a germ of a script in mind. While there'd be a number of
ways to do this, I'm imagining various SUV customer testimonials
about why they need an SUV. These customers would all speak
earnestly about the REAL reasons they buy SUVs, such as:
1) Woman wants to keep up with the Joneses
2) Guy thinks chicks dig 'em
3) Guy is insecure about his, uh, shortcomings
4) etc.
If you ever consider doing it, I'd love to help/give input,
whatever. Believe it or not, there might be a way to get
funding/a grant from one of the environmental organizations for
this. If so, it might help ensure yet another place to post this.

today's kind of hectic too - taking my wife away for the weekend
and wrapping things up at the office. your idea is awesome. i've
thought quite about about producing spoof ads and some fun flash
animations. i want to do a twisted version of that old trucker's
song called "convoy" - but it'd be a shoppin convoy -
"breaker breaker 19 - mountaineer mama east bound to blue
light special, you got your ears on?, Ten four tahoe jane and
stoppin for a cafe mocha on the way" let them truckers roll,
10-4! it would be great to post some spoofs too like the psas you
mentioned - we have the facilities to produce them. hey, do you
know anything about what it costs to rent one of those highway
billboards? how cool would it be to put a big old gaspig
billboard up next to the 405!
