having spoken of a cousin that lives in Los
Angeles, who told me about your website, I think you should know
the situation in the UK is following that in the US. SUVs are
becoming more popular over here, too.
some of the models you see here are Ford Explorers, or Jeep Grand
Cherokees. There are a lot of smaller models though, that get
much better milage than these. I drive one myself (a '94 Ford Maverick - which
isn't sold in the US) which gets between 30 and 40 miles per
gallon (UK).
I think I enjoy many of the same 'benefits' that drivers of
bigger SUVs get, and I don't feel bad about driving my car. It
seldom goes off-road, and then not seriously, but I was tired of
getting stuck in snow in my old car, so I bought this one.
can't really justify owning it, but I get much better milage than
many US SUVs so I don't feel bad about it.
will see if I can make a gaspig.com sticker unless you can send
me one! just to try and raise European awareness of 'the cause'
8-)
regards
David.
David: It figures that in
Europe the SUVs would be smarter. you should see the roads here,
it's bizarre - the explorers and jeeps are dwarfed by
expeditions, navigators and a bunch of other gas gluttons. the
photos i posted took no hunting to get. all i had to do was step
outside and point the camera. it baffles the mind. how exciting,
gaspig.com in the UK, you bet i'll send you stickers. just tell
me what size and how many (in case some of your friends are into
it). your letter is payment enough. thanks!
